SIMONA SCARPALEGGIA is CEO and incoming Head of the global initiative “The Future of our Work” of IKEA Schweiz where she managed strategy and operations of the retail business.
She founded “Advance Women” in Switzerland in 2013, an organization that promotes diversity in management for the benefit of customers, companies, economies and societies. She is author of the book “The Other Half” published in July 2019.
From 2016 to 2018 she co-chaired the UN High-Level Panel on Women’s Economic Empowerment in the context of the Global Goals for Sustainable Development. She serves in the Advisory Boards of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Zurich, the Research Institute for International Management of University of St. Gallen (FIM-HSG), and the Zurich University of Arts (ZHdK).
IKEA is on a journey to become a 100% circular business through a smart use of resources and designing products that can be repurposed, repaired, reused, resold or recycled. During World Economic Forum 2018 in Davos, IKEA was recognized for its efforts to incorporate CIRCULAR ECONOMY PRINCIPLES across all the company’s operations to reduce environmental impact and increase re-usability.
